Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

The Book of Psalms
Psalm 67

1. G-d be merciful unto us,
and bless us;
and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah.

2. That thy way may be known upon earth,

thy saving health among all nations.

3. Let the people praise thee, O G-d;

let all the people praise thee.

4. O let the nations be glad and sing for joy:

for thou shalt judge the people righteously,

and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.

5. Let the people praise thee,

O G-d; let all the people praise thee.

6. Then shall the earth yield her increase;

and G-d, even our own G-d,

shall bless us.

7. G-d shall bless us;

and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.

Psalm 67, in Beautiful Hebrew Calligraphy, in the Design of The Menorah

Dedication- mezuzah

Deuteronomy 6:4-9

4 Hear, O Israel: the LORD our God, the LORD is one.

5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart;

7 and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand, and they shall be for frontlets between thine eyes.

9 And thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house, and upon thy gates.

11:13-21

13 And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto My commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul,

14 that I will give the rain of your land in its season, the former rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.

15 And I will give grass in thy fields for thy cattle, and thou shalt eat and be satisfied.

16 Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;

17 and the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and He shut up the heaven, so that there shall be no rain, and the ground shall not yield her fruit; and ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth you.

18 Therefore shall ye lay up these My words in your heart and in your soul; and ye shall bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes.

19 And ye shall teach them your children, talking of them, when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

20 And thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house, and upon thy gates;

21 that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, upon the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.

Tehilim 62

1

A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.

2

O G-d, Thou art my G-d, earnestly will I seek Thee; my soul thirsteth for Thee, my flesh longeth for Thee, in a dry and weary land, where no water is.

3

So have I looked for Thee in the sanctuary, to see Thy power and Thy glory.

4

For Thy lovingkindness is better than life; my lips shall praise Thee.

5

So will I bless Thee as long as I live; in Thy name will I lift up my hands.

6

My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth doth praise Thee with joyful lips;

7

When I remember Thee upon my couch, and meditate on Thee in the night-watches.

8

For Thou hast been my help, and in the shadow of Thy wings do I rejoice.

9

My soul cleaveth unto Thee; Thy right hand holdeth me fast.

10

But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the nethermost parts of the earth.

11

They shall be hurled to the power of the sword; they shall be a portion for foxes.

12

But the king shall rejoice in G-d; every one that sweareth by Him shall glory; for the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.

"Thirsts for You does my soul, longs for You does my flesh; in a land parched and weary with no water. So, too, in the
Sanctuary to have beheld You, to see Your might and Your glory." (Tehillim 63:2,3)

These words came from Dovid Hamelech when he was in Midbar Yehuda (the wilderness of Judah). Even in that desolate place, after being exiled from nation, family, and home, he never wavered in his love for Hakadosh Baruch Hu. These same words are the words coming from the deepest places within every Yid in the choshech (darkness) filled world we live in. We have to purify ourselves through Torah and Mitzvos in order to bring these words to the surface until they burst forth from our lips with emesdike (true) yearning for closeness with our Creator and the rebuilding of the Beis Hamikdash.
